Tan Sri Professor Lin See Yan was appointed to the
Board of WB on 20 July 2004 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. He was
redesignated as a Non-Independent Non-Executive Director of WB with effect
from 23 May 2023.
Tan Sri Lin, a British Chartered Scientist, is a Harvard educated economist.
Qualified as Malaysia’s first Chartered Statistician, he graduated from the
University of Malaya in Singapore and Harvard University (where he received
three (3) degrees, including a PhD in Economics). He is Pro-Chancellor, Universiti
Teknologi Malaysia; Pro-Chancellor & Research Professor at Sunway University;
Professor of Economics (Adjunct), Universiti Utara Malaysia; Eisenhower Fellow;
and President of Harvard Club of Malaysia.
Prior to 1998, he was Chairman/President and Chief Executive Officer of Pacific
Bank and for fourteen (14) years previously, Deputy Governor of Bank Negara
Malaysia, having been a central banker for thirty-four (34) years. Tan Sri Lin
continues to serve the public interest, including member of a number of key
Committees at Ministry of Higher Education; Member, Asian Shadow Financial
Regulatory Committee; Economic Advisor, Associated Chinese Chambers of
Commerce and Industry of Malaysia; Governor, Asian Institute of Management,
Manila; and Chairman Emeritus, Harvard Graduate School Alumni Council at
Harvard University in Cambridge (USA) as well as its Senior Associate.
Tan Sri Lin was formerly a Director of Sunway Berhad, Sunway University and IGB
REIT Management Sdn. Bhd. (the Manager of IGB Real Estate Investment Trust,
IGB Commercial Real Estate Investment Trust) and Nylex (Malaysia) Berhad.
Currently, Tan Sri Lin advises and sits on the Board of Trustees of the Jeffrey
Cheah Foundation, Trustees of Yayasan Tun Ismail Mohamed Ali and other private
businesses in Malaysia as well as ASEAN.
